The Leech which rode the Malabar Pit Viper (Trimeresurus Malabaricus)

The sight of a Pit Viper moving actively on the ground caught my eyes. The Malabar Pit Viper (Trimeresurus Malabaricus) is an ambush hunter and I was surprised to see it on the ground foraging and hence I decided to follow it closely to see in which direction it is heading.

The pit viper slowly moved towards a pile of rocks and rubbed its head between the rock corners. Only then did I get to see the rider, the great Leech sitting right on top of the Pit Viperโ€™s head as if it had tamed the Pit Viper and was taking it for a small ride. This also solved my doubt of how the snake would react if it had a Leech on top. This sight proved that the snake did not like it even a single bit and tried its level best and rubbed its head in all corners of the rock to get rid of the it. But the Leech had its hold on the Pit Viper (I can almost imagine the Leech smiling with pride). Click here to see the video.

This scene looked like the challenge between the Leeches and the bravest caught hold of the Pit Viper and rode it till it was satisfied. Thus spread the great story of the Leech which rode the Pit Viper. ๐Ÿ™‚
